Answer: The Law Women Organization was established by students at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1973. Since then, we have become one of the largest organizations in the College of Law, supporting over 130 members in recent academic years. Law Women strives to: -Raise awareness and prepare members to face issues related to womens participation in the judicial system; -Promote career and networking opportunities for members within the legal profession; and -Coordinate activities within the university community that address issues of concern to women in the law. The organization is composed of active members and honorary members. Any person accepted by the University of Tennessee College of Law and currently enrolled in a law school class shall possess the qualifications for active membership status. Membership is open to all students and faculty/staff members where appropriate, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, or covered veteran status. Any undergraduate student sympathetic to the purpose of the organization, but who does not possess the necessary qualifications of active member status, may join Law Women as an honorary member.
