We want to preserve movie-going as the big motion picture event it was in 1928, and maintain accessibility of the theatre as a community institution that engages and inspires the art of film. Actively we're striving to restore, not renovate, The Byrd Theatre within the next 3 years, by reclaiming and preserving all we can. The theatre restoration is being undertaken in phases. Future milestones include: Marquee & Vertical Blade Signage Restoration and replacement Exterior Restoration of surfaces, openings, and trim Restrooms Expansion and accessibility Electrical Complete rewiring including Grand Chandelier Ornamental Finishes Textile, painting and plaster conservation ADA Compliance Accessible seating and facilities Seating Updated in Orchestra and Balcony
