Answer: The Perception Institute is a consortium of mind science researchers, educators, and social justice advocates. A catalyst for original research and a translator of existing research, we develop strategies to reduce bias and anxiety and influence the public narrative through cultural conversations. We make the complex science around identity and the mind accessible, and show how these scientific phenomena affect every sphere of our lives, including health care, housing, education, the justice system, and the media. Our goal is a nation in which we all experience respect, dignity, and a sense of belonging, and a world in which identity difference does not affect life chances. We engage in conversation, not confrontation, when working in contexts where people and institutions share egalitarian values but have yet to identify how to translate those values into practices.
