Answer: The Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex (MAAC) markets and promotes the North Central West Virginia Airport (formerly Benedum Airport), the MAAC, its component members and their capabilities in aviation and aerospace to government and industrial clients and prospects throughout the world. The Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex, Inc. is an economic development company. MAAC, Inc. has the main mission to develop North Central West Virginia Airport into its full potential. Thanks to the team at work for MAAC, the complex today employs some 1,400 people in aviation-related jobs, and provides a direct wage and benefit impact of about $50 million annually. Total direct and indirect jobs attributed to the local aerospace industry number about 3,200. This year marks the start of a newly revised MAAC Aerospace Education Program. Through this program the MAAC hopes to excite student interest and promote the: - Pursuit of advanced studies for degrees or certifications in West Virginia aerospace higher education programs - Production of a sufficient aerospace workforce not only to sustain the West Virginia aerospace industry but also permit continued growth With the assistance of school administrators and faculty, the MAAC Aerospace Education Program will create an aerospace oriented curriculum for the teachers and their students. The curriculum will include educator guides, presentations, activities, etc. all of which adhere to the WV education systems Content Standards and Objectives. Some additional activities of the MAACs Aerospace Education Program include: - Participating in Career Fairs - Organizing of Aerospace Industry Days with Local Companies - Arranging Guest Speaker Programs - Arranging School Trips to Aerospace Museums, etc. - Sponsoring School Aviation Clubs - Conducting Teacher Flight Workshops - Conducting Student Summer Camps
