The company founder, Doug Mastel, a metallurgical engineer by training, began his career making diamond-tipped drill bits. When Alan Baribeau requested him to make diamond scalpels for corneal surgery, he seized the opportunity. Today, Mastel Precision makes the industry's finest instruments with a philosophy of 'patient care comes first'. Mastel Precision strives to provide fine metalworking and specialize in ultra-thin, reduced-angle cutting edges. Precise instrument finishing results in minimally invasive incisions, thereby improving safety and efficiency for the eye surgeon. Our experienced craftsmen and technicians make all of this possible.
