Answer: The KIBSD, in close cooperation with our diverse island community, exists to provide an educational program of the highest standard that empowers all students to achieve personal and academic excellence while developing their full potential as responsible, productive citizens. We proudly serve approximately 2,400 students in PreK through grade 12. In town, we have one high school, one middle school, four elementary schools, and one Homeschool/Correspondence Study Program. Our outlying villages have K-12 schools in Akhiok, Chiniak, Old Harbor, Ouzinkie, and Port Lions. We offer numerous distance-delivered courses as enhancements to our curriculum. In addition, special education and English language acquisition services are provided to qualified students.
