Answer: In 2009 after successfully providing interior and graphic design services for 33 years, Harris Design Group became the new vehicle for my studio practice of Fiber Art. My work has redefined and subverted the basic concepts of quilting by extending the boundaries of traditional quilting through inclusion of other forms of stitchery, irregular shapes, textures, materials and objects. Captivated by the interplay of hue, pattern and texture, my work often draws inspiration from the color, energy, and rhythms of the city and from ethnographic textiles that I collect. My work has been exhibited extensively worldwide and is included in several institutional and museum collections including the Detroit Institute of Arts. Recent exhibitions include solo exhibits at the Dennos Museum, Traverse City, MI, The Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids MI. Sargents Daughters Gallery, New York, NY, the Hill Gallery, Birmingham, MI and Simone DeSousa Gallery in Detroit. in 2015 I was awarded a Kresge Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship.
