Answer: The Clifton Steel Company was established in 1971 as a fabricator and distributor of heat treated abrasion and impact resistant steel products. Initially, the company provided materials to the coal mining and coal power plant industries in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The Company developed the Tensalloy brand during this period. Over the years, Clifton Steel has expanded capabilities, facilities, and processes to provide improved wear-resistant products for use in a myriad of industrial applicationsnow serving customers in industries that include scrap recycling, railroad, mining equipment and the military. In addition to solving wear problems, creating a lower life-cycle cost for our customers has remained a primary goal. In 2004, Clifton Steel opened our 140,000-square-foot facility in Maple Heights, Ohio, and began to work on the construction of in-house heat treating lines for the production of military grade steel armor plate. At the same time, Clifton Steel added multiple high definition plasma burning machines to meet the increasing demand for close tolerance shape cutting. In 2008, the second full quench and temper heat treating line for armor plate was completed and made fully operational. Since that time, the functionality of our Phoenix, Arizona, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, facilities have been brought to Maple Heights, funneling our comprehensive capabilities into one facility. This primary facility now contains full machining, cutting, and forming capabilities never before offered to our customers from a single manufacturing location. Always, Clifton Steel remains true to our commitment to provide the absolute highest level of quality, service, and product available in the wear resistant steel products market.
