Answer: The Chelsea Hicks Foundation was created to inspire hope and healing to seriously and critically ill children and their families. Jason and Alison Hicks watched their youngest daughter Chelsea go through 22 months of cancer treatment. In doing so, they witnessed the joy and how her spirit and attitude were lifted when she knew her cousins were coming to the hospital to play dress up with her. Chelsea was able to get other children at the hospital to play dress up with her also. Doctors and nurses would help with dress up/ tea parties in the hallway alcoves. Or even mini parades. Giving them special treats to eat and complimenting them on their creative costumes. When Chelsea passed away from childhood cancer in February 2009 her family did not want that experience and those memories to be just for them. They thought other families needed those memories for their children as well. Those children battling childhood cancer or another serious illness need something special to do. We created the Chelsea Hicks Foundation to brighten the lives of seriously ill children with programs designed to add fun and create lasting memories for the whole family. Please join our cause and help us to inspire hope and healing through dress up and play. See how you can donate or help on our donations page on our website.
