Utilizing a comprehensive arts curriculum that includes arts education, arts integration and arts exposure, ArtSpace prides itself as a national leader in the arts integration space. ArtSpace has been recognized by the Kennedy Center, the North Carolina Arts Council, and the readers of the Mountain Xpress for its excellence in education through the arts. ArtSpace seeks to foster responsible citizenship through its four pillars - "Leadership, Service, Respect and Effort." Throughout the year, students pursue character education alongside their learning in and through the arts. Students in grades K-5 rotate through classes in visual art, music, dance, theatre and physical education throughout their school week. In the middle school grades (6-8) students begin to exercise choice through electives options in those art forms. ArtSpace employs full time, certified teachers in every classroom, including arts classrooms. ArtSpace is committed to student learning through experiential education. We are home to a school garden, outdoor classroom, STEAM program. Students also receive a minimum of 30 minutes of recess time per day outside as ArtSpace believes that students need this time to exert physical energy and allow lessons to "sink in."
