Our Executive Chef, Sam Gorenstein, born in Colombia and raised in the most prestigious kitchens of Miami and New York, hails from Middle Eastern descent. His Syrian grandmother introduced him to foods and flavors from the Middle East before he could walk. Not only did this time in the kitchen inspire Sam to pursue a culinary career, but it also played a large role in shaping his culinary imagination. He began to understand the transcendental power of food to transport your tastebuds a world away without ever having to step foot outside your kitchen. Sams business partner and co-founder, Roger Duarte, began his career in investment banking but soon left to pursue a business wholesaling Florida stone crabs. Roger grew up in a home where food was the family glue, where breakfast was family time and dinner was family therapy. Roger always knew that his passion for food would eventually play a role in his professional aspirations, but stone crabs are what finally brought him out of his shell. Shortly after founding George Stone Crab, Roger met Sam and together they co-founded My Ceviche, a fast casual seafood restaurant concept that has since expanded to 7 locations all in Miami-Dade County with more location coming soon. Roger and Sam came up with the idea for Zuuk in 2015 with the desire to bring flavors that will transport you to a world away in a fast casual setting. While My Ceviche was about making the seafood dishes with coastal flavors both affordable and accessible, Zuuk was created to do the same - but for the less familiar flavors of the Middle East. The food at Zuuk is crafted to transport you on a food journey far away, to let you experience exotic flavors that you will love. At Zuuk, the unexpected never tasted so good.
