Answer: For over 100 years, YWCA Enid has been on a mission to provide help and hope to those in need in our community. We have been a driving force for change since our doors opened in 1920, evolving to meet the needs of women, children, and families in our five-county service area of Garfield, Grant, Blaine, Major, and Kingfisher Counties. Today, YWCA Enid is, at our core, emergency crisis intervention services for all victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. We are the triage unit for survivors. Survivors of violence come to us in times of crisis and despair. YWCA staff then lays the foundation of hope for survivors to rebuild their lives free from shame, blame, and future violence. We work to promote independence and recovery through advocacy and counseling post-trauma. Victim Advocates guide survivors every step of the way, whether assisting with emergency protective orders, transporting to appointments, or helping to locate safe housing and employment. Each victim is offered a forensic exam, clothing/household items, mental health treatment, and a caring support network. Survivors leave the YWCA more confident with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives. The YWCA is our communitys safe haven and resource hub for survivors of interpersonal violence. Through our essential programs, 3,000-5,000 lives are saved each year.
