Answer: We are an organization built on the idea that transformative opportunities are essential, especially for those who experience barriers to access. We provide programming that removes these barriers to develop diverse young leaders through activism and community engagement in art, nature, and travel, for diverse youth to amplify their agency, impact their community and shape their future. GWCF programming centers on multidimensional three pillars, with projects created in collaboration with youth and community advocates: 1) Unity Through Arts: Art reflects society and can be used to express community needs, individual voices, cultural perspectives, and more. Through public art projects completed in partnership with community members and professional artists, our students are empowered to share their perspectives through art. Projects in this track can include mural development, podcast creation, digital magazine publication, community art exhibits, and documentary film, among others. 2) Our Naturehood A relationship with the natural world and access to clean air, clean water, and green spaces is essential for all communities, but particularly for the marginalized youth GWCF serves who are most impacted by climate change and environmental injustice. Youth interested in learning more about the connections between human health and nature may choose to participate in the Our Naturehood local track. These community projects range from habitat restoration to park clean ups to community gardening. 3) Global Leadership Youth travel to Panama, Costa Rica, or Puerto Rico to explore new global perspectives that provide them with access to a diversity of knowledge and lived experiences. Our youth are challenged and guided by local leaders abroad. Projects in this sector focus on solutions to challenges in education, infrastructure development, and conservation.
