Then 36 years later, in April 2012, Young's grandson, Seth Ellington, re-established Waste Away Systems (WAS) with a new approach to high-quality waste services. Originally founded to assist the city of Newark's local trash haulers dealing with a deficiency at a city-owned landfill, Waste Away owned and operated a transfer station, landfill and hauling company. Today, Waste Away Systems (WAS) is a locally owned and operated solid waste and recycling hauling company currently servicing Licking County and the surrounding areas. In 2012, WAS started as a small, one-truck operation with a simple mission take care of our crew and provide superior service to our customers. Today, our company has grown to be a multi-million dollar organization recently recognized one of the top 25 fastest-growing independent businesses in Ohio by Inc. Magazine. But beyond the numbers, were most proud of the work we do, the people we serve and the communities we touch.
