Answer: Victory Service Dogs is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Colorado Springs, CO. Our mission is to help local veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD and other disabilities achieve a full life of increased independence, purpose, and dignity through the partnership of a loving service dog. What Makes Us Different? - We do not house the dogs at our facility! Our dogs have either been donated, rescued, or purchased from a local breeder. We put them through temperament testing to see if they'd be a good fit for a service dog and then we pair them with a veteran. - Once the veteran has the dog, they are fully responsible for housing it, feeding it, etc. This means we have little to no overhead and the bond between veteran and dog is much stronger! - Our amazing trainers work on a contract basis and teach classes at our facility every week. Each veteran/dog team comes in for classes 1-2 times per week and goes through all of the certifications together. We've found this to be a much more successful method not only for the bond between the pair but for helping the veteran have a reason to get out of the house and be a part of a small group. - The full donation cost to put a veteran/dog team through training is only $7500. This is so much more attainable than your average $30,000 We are also starting up our Child Service Dogs program in the fall of this year. We will be accepting applications stating a diagnosis from a medical provider or psychologist/psychiatrist that would benefit from having a service animal. These diagnoses include but are not limited to: autism, diabetes, any condition involving mobility problems, ADHD, etc. We are in the middle of exciting times!
