Through his drive for excellence, Earl became an educator of the trade and took great pride in teaching others his skill through an electrical apprentice program. In later years, he accepted the position of assistant chief electrical inspector for the state of Washington. At that time, he handed over the company and its traditions to his son Loren E. VanKirk. Loren VanKirk along with his son, L. Wes VanKirk began to expand the local family business from the foothills of the Cascades in Washington State into national electrical companies.
