Answer: United Wisconsin Grain Producers (UWGP) is an ethanol facility in Wisconsin and was formed by a group of local corn growers in August 2001. The facility started operations in April 2005 and is currently producing 60 million gallons of ethanol per year. UWGP is a dry mill corn ethanol facility, that has ultimately grew to include over 900 member/investors. It is a community owned company with the majority of the owners residing in the surrounding area. Many of the owners are farmers who sell corn to UWGP and also purchase back the distillers grains for livestock feed. After being in production for over eight years (2005), UWGP is still strongly committed to the operation of an economically successful business which provides a step in the right direction towards a cleaner environment and repatriation of economic activity based on the processing of renewable agricultural products. Ethanol is better for the environment, the economy, and our national security. Ethanol is a renewable, sustainable fuel. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 59 percent compared to gasoline from well to wheel. Using higher blends will reduce harmful pollution even more. Ethanol employs hundreds of thousands of Americans and with every billion gallon made, another 10,000 to 20,000 jobs are created.
