Answer: The United Nations Association of Minnesota (UNA-MN) is a non-profit, grassroots organization that works on a local and regional level to promote the principles and goals of the United Nations. The mission of UNA-MM is to educate and inspire Minnesotans to engage in global issues to build public support. The Model UN Classroom Curriculum is an innovative international education program that engages students from grades 7 12 both in the classroom and in simulations involving human rights, peace and security, and sustainable development issues. The mission of UNA-MN Model UN program is to provide students with skills needed to become engaged global citizens. Model UN Conferences After completion of the UNA-MN Model UN curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in a Model UN Conference. During the conferences, students take the role of United Nations delegates, draft resolutions, negotiate, strategize, and formally present their countrys positions within the parameters of the UNs rules of procedure. In order to participate effectively, students must research the countries that they represent and the global issues to be addressed.
