Answer: The Tucson Sugar Skulls, with the best fans in the Indoor Football League, bring professional football to Tucson. The fast-paced action of arena football starts in March at the TCC Arena. This is Tucsons team, said Team Owner Kevin Guy. We love the market and want to be a part of the growth of the downtown district. We feel Tucson is a perfect fit in the Indoor Football League. It fits our strategic plan of developing a western conference. It is a high scoring, fast paced game where fans can reach out and interact with the players. We look forward to building a passionate fan base by putting a great product on the field. We are proud to have a diverse group of prominent Tucson community leaders in our ownership group. Ali Farhang, minority partner, shares a vision of not only building a championship-caliber franchise, but ensuring that the team is impactful in the community, said Kevin Guy. Ali and other local owners will provide the team with expertise on economics, politics, and community nuances. The Tucson Sugar Skulls brought in Mike Feder to be the Executive Director of the new franchise. Feder spent 15 years as the General Manager of the Triple-A Baseball team in Tucson. Feder has spent 37 years as the top executive in professional sports, including three years guiding the AFLs New Orleans VooDoo and the Austin Wranglers. During our search, we were looking for someone that had experience running sports teams and in the Tucson market. Mike has a unique combination of dynamic leadership skills, relevant experience, and someone who fits the Culture we are developing, Kevin Guy said. Marcus Coleman, defensive coordinator for the reigning Indoor Football League champions, will be the franchises first head coach. Coleman, an All-American defensive back at Texas Tech, played for 11 years in the NFL. He said Our team will be exciting to watch, and the goal will always be to win a championship for Tucson.
