Answer: Transitional Youth was founded in 1991 by Bert E. Waugh, Jr., President of Prudential Northwest Properties. Transitional Youths vision is to provide at-risk and homeless youth the opportunity and skills to achieve independent living. We have four homes serving youth ages 18-24. Two homes are for young men, one for women, and one for women with children. By providing outreach, support, and housing to homeless and at-risk youth, we seek to transform both hearts and lives through compassion, guidance and the grace of God. We also run Braking Cycles, a coffee and bike shop that serves the community and also acts as a hub for our paid youth apprenticeship program that serves youth 14-21. The coffee and bike shop provide avenues for our youth to learn job skills in a professional and safe environment. Braking Cycles is committed to offering hope and tangible services that will give youth a place and opportunity to dream, reach, and achieve.
