Answer: Touched By An Animal is neither a shelter nor a rescue group. Instead we are a Licensed Cat Sanctuary. We provide loving and lifetime homes that are secure to cats and their owners in need. Our mission is to preserve the bond between cats and their owners. At Touched By An Animal, we preserve the nurturing bond between people and their companion animals. We help the elderly (and others) to maintain this loving relationship and by providing lifetime homes for cats, when needed, in our home, where Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too. We are a non-kill facility. Our cats are adopted when possible. In the event a cat is unable to be adopted they will live in our house for the rest of their natural life. We also assist in rescuing cats and kittens from kill shelters when we have the necessary resources and space. Our cats can congregate throughout the house as they please (i.e., free roaming). In the warmer months, our cats can venture outside in our special custom built protected screen house. We pride ourselves in providing exceptional care to our precious furry companions. All their needs are met including veterinary care. Many of our cats have special needs requiring specialized care with their diets and medication. Additionally, our staff cleans the entire house top to bottom daily. Our volunteers visit daily to play with the cats and give each cat the affection they need and deserve. Persons in nursing homes or assisted living facilities regularity enjoy visits from our cats. Volunteers can bring cats to see their owners too.
