This groundbreaking technology does not require weather data and additional hardware, which makes it inexpensive, ready to deploy and compliant to FERC Order 881. The LineID will enable high-voltage overhead transmission lines to carry more power which will mitigate congestion in electric grids and will reduce the cost of electricity for ratepayers. The LineID also helps utilities manage the power grid with foretelling knowledge, preventing catastrophic events such as wildfires and shutdowns/blackouts as well as critical equipment failure by accurately calculating the real-time variations of the entire electrical parameters of transmission lines such as series impedance and shunt admittance matrices.
