Answer: Tin Mountain provides in-school and after school environmental education programs to over 6000 students in several school districts in the Mt. Washington valley and Western ME. Each summer our 4 camp locations serve several hundred campers ages 4-16 enjoy both day camps and explorer camps offering canoe, climbing, hiking and biking trips throughout the Northcountry. Throughout the year Tin Mountain offers a variety of programs and topics through the year-round Nature programs, Eco-Forums, Environmental Book Groups, Bird Society and Environmental Trivia nights at a local brewery. Topics range from "How Sustainable is the Ski Industry" to "Managing Invasive Plants" to the many ways to cook and enjoy root vegetables to wreath making and more. Throughout the year, we also offer naturalist led hikes, canoe trips, showshoe trips and more. With trails at both our Albany NH campus and the Jackson NH Field Station, there are plenty of trails to enjoy to avoid the crowds. Throughout the year we also host several events including First Season Dinner and Benenfit Auction in March, the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb or MWARBH- now in its 48th year and the Mt. Washington Century Ride. All these events provide the necessary funding to support the ongoing programs, camps, scholarships and community -based programs offered by Tin Mountain. The MWARBH, consistently ranked as one of the 'must do' and toughest hillclimbs in the country (Bicycling Mag. 10/4/19) attracts riders from across the country and around the world. This is the only day the Mt. Washington Auto Road is open to bicycles and space is limited. Riders are only allowed do ride up due to the grade and weather. For those who like to pedal up and simply ride down- there's the Mt. Washington Century ride where bicyclists can choose different lengths up to 100 miles through some of the most spectacular (and tough) topography in New England. Tin Mountain - Nature - there's no better classroom.
