Answer: ThermaMEDx was founded to bring Dr. Michel Guillon's vision of harnessing thermal energy to provide an accessible, effective treatment for dry eyes and meibomian gland dysfunction. ThermaMEDx is a family-owned company led by our medical board of renown doctors on a mission to advance patient outcomes by working to address the underlying cause of dry eye disease and MGD. Although there is no cure for dry eyes, our first medical device, EverTears is designed to deliver the two therapies most recommended by Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to help restore the eyes' natural tear film. Artificial tears, non-sterile masks heated in the microwave and other OTC medical devices only deal with part of the symptoms. In office treatments deliver benefits of precise heat and eyelid pressure for effective treatment, but equipment investment and patient costs are high. Prescription drugs like Restasis are shown effective but patients complain that they can suffer for months before the drugs provide significant relief. EverTears is designed to provide a convenient, affordable OTC solution that can augment in-office treatments and drugs or be used for relief of dry eye symptoms within days. Using ThermaMEDx technology patented by Dr. Guillon, EverTears is the world's first self-heating, pre-moistened compress+cleaning pad. Each pad is sterile and individually wrapped so whether patients wake up with dry eyes or experience dryness during the day, EverTears provides effective sustained relief with regular use.
