Answer: Incorporated in 2001, we are not disease-specific (unlike many) and have been lovingly created to assist families caring for their child with disabilities, regardless of the underlying disease or disorder, all at little to no cost to the families. In order to achieve our mission, we have implemented programs which offer both access to necessary disability equipment and funding for products and services necessary to enhance the lives of medically fragile children. The organization will strive to ensure the future wellbeing and growth of clients by providing them with the resources necessary for future successes. Our efforts will be focused on those who are economically disadvantaged, and will include many individuals who come from diverse backgrounds. The organization's programs are created primarily to enhance the Quality-of-Life for the special-needs child as well as helping the parent to better and safely care for their child in the family home. Our programs are ever-evolving as new needs are identified, and administered by a highly trained and dedicated volunteer staff. Five core programs are currently in place within The M.O.R.G.A.N. Project: 1. Pediatric Disability Equipment Exchange Program 2. Quality of Life Enhancement Program 3. Parent Resource & Informational Pamphlet Program 4. Family Education Seminars Program 5. Morgan's Place Goals - (1) Empowerment and Advocacy - Parents We provide information, tools, and resources to caregivers in an effort to empower them as advocates for their children and to enhance the quality of life for their families through our programs. (2) Therapeutic and Recreational Play - Children with disabilities Physical, sensory and cognitive impairments can reduce the amount of meaningful stimulation that the child receives and result in counter-intuitive behaviors and learning difficulties. Our Sensorium sessions are both therapeutic and recreational based for these children.
