Answer: The Hourglass Foundation (THF) is a a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and the philanthropic arm of Hourglass Management Corporation, including Flexco Fleet Services. THF is on a mission to empower low income, first generation, and diversely underrepresented students to achieve a life of financial stability and independence through educational pursuits in the skilled trades. Every year, thousands of students are looking to enroll in auto tech and skilled trades training programs, however, many struggle with the funds to cover enrollment, books, tools, and other school supplies. With the help of individual donors and corporate giving, THF offers educational scholarship opportunities to support students looking to attend trade school or community college programs with a focus on Auto Technology, Auto Mechanics, Diesel Tech, Collision Repair, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Construction, or similar. At THF, we understand that There is more than one path to an education, and that attending a traditional four year college is not always the right fit, nor the most affordable option for many graduating high school students. Additionally, female auto technicians only comprise 4% or less of the commercial vehicle maintenance industry, while at the same time fleets report that finding technicians is a top challenge. By investing in educating the next generation of skilled trades professionals, we can help deserving young adults attain hands-on experience and trade-specific skill sets that lead to solid employment opportunities, financial stability and independence. Currently, THF offers a variety of scholarship opportunities, including: Women in Auto Tech More than One Path Women Rock the Trades THF Tool scholarship Our success in funding each of these scholarship opportunities depends on corporate donations, grants through corporations, donated vehicles, and generous individual donors.
