Answer: The Giving Tree is the only organization in Portland, OR committed solely to providing professional resident services to people living in affordable housing. Our programs support Portland’s 10 year plan to end homelessness by engaging people in their community and providing the support they need to succeed. We provide standard resident services to our clients: we advocate on their behalf, connect them to resources, help them build support networks, and empower them to be productive contributors. What makes The Giving Tree unique are the array of diverse programs we build to suit the needs of our clients. We come right into their community rooms to host art classes, nutrition and wellness workshops, and exercise classes. We put on social hours, game days, movie nights, community meals, and holiday celebrations. We provide financial literacy and computer skills tutoring, take trips to OMSI, the Oregon Zoo, and the Portland Art Museum, and link our clients to volunteer opportunities and free workshops throughout the Portland metro area.
