Answer: The Epicenter Initiative is a nonprofit dedicated to helping youthful offenders (known as Second Lookers) serving extreme sentences in the adult prison system. Our purpose is to rehabilitate these youthful offenders, advocate for their release on parole after 20 years, and prepare them for societal reintegration by providing them with a network of support. Our goal for the 2021 Texas Legislature is to pass the Second Look bill, which would grant Second Lookers parole review at 20 years. Without this legislation, many Second Lookers wont have their cases looked at again until theyve served 40 years.
