Answer: The Dred Scott Heritage Foundation was established in June of 2006. Its original purpose was to support the acknowledgment of the 150th Anniversary of the Dred Scott Decision and support the attendant commemorative events that marked this momentous occasion. This includes the creation of a life size statue of Dred and Harriet Scott as a memorial to the man and his cause to be located near the original site where the Scotts first filed their case, the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis. The statue is anticipated for 2011. Currently this is an all volunteer organization.
