Answer: We believe that disability is creative opportunity. Living in a world that has not been built with us in mind means that analyzing systems and spaces, anticipating outcomes, and creating solutions is a part of our daily existence. Design thinking is how we navigate the world. We are the original lifehackers. In spite of this, disabled expertise is rarely represented in the design industry. Design for disability sees a problem that needs to be solved. Designing WITH disability is an opportunity for innovation - for companies to tap into an emerging $8 trillion market, and to create value for existing markets by prioritizing and engaging with the magnificent messy diversity of human needs. WITH is investing in local disability communities by establishing creative hubs city by city. We have started in New York and San Francisco and will expand further in 2019. We have strategically chosen to facilitate this process by connecting disabled designers with paid fellowships at cutting-edge design studios and creative spaces. Over time, we plan to expand the fellowship program to other cities and countries, and to build an international online community that serves as a portal connecting disabled creators with organizations looking for outside-the-box creative problem-solving.
