Answer: Founded in 2010 by Mike and Mariann Stanton, the Danny Did Foundation is dedicated in its mission to prevent deaths caused by seizures. The Foundation was created in honor of their son, Danny Stanton. Danny died in December of 2009. His death was caused by a seizure experienced while sleeping. Danny was only four years old. The DDF's mission is to prevent deaths caused by seizures via three key initiatives: (1) Helping to reduce the risk of epilepsy-related death by funding alerting devices for families who cannot afford them. (2) Advancing public awareness of the risks that accompany epilepsy, including Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). (3) Improving the SUDEP communication between medical professionals and families who face epilepsy. The DDF is a not-for-profit corporation organized in the state of Illinois and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
