Wellness programs provide employees with valuable information about nutrition and the benefits of a healthy diet. However, participants who lack culinary skills can face repeated frustration in the kitchen as they try to improve their diet while cooking at home. Increase your participants success by adding interactive cooking lessons to your wellness program. Cooking lessons will build confidence and take the mystery out of meal preparation for every employee taking part. During my cooking demonstrations I break down recipe instructions carefully to ensure that everyone understands each step and can reliably repeat them at home. Knife skill lessons, cooking technique, and recipe management are always reinforced in each demonstration. Program discussions include healthy ingredient information, portion control, food preparation and knife techniques. I offer grocery store navigation hints and kitchen time management ideas appropriate for participants of all cooking abilities and interests. Programs vary in topics to include mindful eating habits, enhancing flavor with herbs and spices, low-glycemic ingredients, whole foods, whole grains, and superfoods, along with many others. Each program includes a cooking demonstration of 3 recipes, samples, and copies of the recipes to take home. In addition, I bring all of my cooking equipment with me. You can host a cooking demonstration in your conference room or auditorium, at your expo or food festival, or any unique space you can think of. All I need is 2 tables and an audience!
