Answer: Ricardo M. Bonnor, M.D., FACS, FASMBS received his Master of Science Degree in Physiology from Georgetown University. He then proceeded to Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating in 1999 with highest honors (top 2 percent of graduating medical school class). His Surgical Residency was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas Texas. He went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Gastrointestinal Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at the prestigious Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He has published articles and book chapters on various topics including biliary tract disease, colon cancer, hernias, and reflux surgery. He is an instructor at Baylor and other educational Institutions as well as Internationally for Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Bonnor feels that the future of surgery will continue to focus on minimally invasive procedures. He states, "The benefits of smaller incisions, resulting in less post-operative pain and recovery time has been well documented in many areas of surgical endeavors. I'm glad to offer my patients this advanced technique."
