Answer: Always a VIP experience! Excellent food with amazing entertainment. Only 118 seats! Show, full meal, parking and all gratuities included! And now for a little history: Greenville native Barbara Horan made her dream of resurrecting and renovating the historic Texan Theater a reality. She purchased the building in 2010 and immediately began the painstaking process of turning a long dark venue into a showpiece for downtown Greenville. The Texan Theater, which dates back to the late 1800s as the King Opera House, is now a fabulously versatile entertainment jewel that can host movie screenings, theater productions, live music and private functions. Horan bought the adjacent building extending the Texan Theater lobby into a sterling coffee shop that serves cups of java, tasty lunch specialties and sweet delights to downtown workers and guests. Fresh also means eco-friendly: The Texan takes pride in using solar panels for electricity, collected rainwater for the shaded courtyard plants, and a machine that transforms food waste into clean water. Here at the Texan, nouveau mingles with vintage. Horan preserved posters, catwalks, bathrooms, the lobby terrazzo floor, the ceiling in the old lobby, the striking neon blade, and the marquee. Materials from the demolition were used in the construction. Speaking of ceilings, the stunning new Texan Theater ceiling consists of a series of hand painted panels, one depicting the Texas star and the other the state of Texas starred with Greenvilles location. Each panel was painted on canvas by Chris Arnold of Eyecon in Dallas. The canvas panels were then glued onto the ceiling. Jim Besgrove of KBA Design in Dallas oversaw the project, from taking in Horans vision to supervising the installation. The entire ceiling project took nine months from conception to installation.
