Answer: Teen Challenge of the Midlands exists to be a catalyst for 180 degree life change in the addict. We reach out to those with life controlling addictions and care for them in our residential centers. We assist local churches, regardless of affiliation, in establishing and operating support ministries for hurting people and families in their congregations and communities. We encourage society around us by delivering first-hand presentations of lives that have been changed. Teen Challenge began it's ministry to hurting street teens in New York City over 40 years ago, and in the Midlands, we've been ministering to hurting people since the mid-70's. While the demographics of who we minister to has changed over the years, the name has stuck. The name Teen Challenge has become synonymous with Christ-centered help, so we stay with it. Teen Challenge of the Midlands program is 12 months in length. The first seven months are spent in our Training Center in Colfax, IA, followed by the five-month Re-entry phase in Omaha, NE. When the two seven-day passes are added, this totals 1212 months. It's been said that "repetition is the mother of mastery and skill". Overcoming life-controlling sins isn't an overnight job; it requires repeated exposure to spiritual truths and surroundings. In fact, 1212 months is just a start - God continues to work on us all our lives!
