Answer: St. Vincent de Paul of Tacoma-Pierce County is a local, non-profit, catholic lay organization, serving people in need since 1926. We welcome everyone with compassion, regardless of race, religion or orientation. We help without judgment and a deep regard for our shared humanity. Many people know us for our thrift stores, but our mission is much broader: We help people struggling to pay for basic needs like rent and utilities, by providing direct financial assistance. We help families and seniors stay in their homes, preventing homelessness. We provide clothing and household goods for people making a fresh start. We hire people to work in our thrift stores, many of whom are re-entering the workforce following personal crises. In 2019, we provided more than $580,000 in direct financial assistance to more than 17,700 people in our community. Donations and proceeds from our two thrift stores in South Tacoma and Summit go directly to support help our neighbors in need. Our generous donors and volunteers are the lifeblood of St. Vinnies! Please join us.
