Answer: Southwest Opportunities Center, Inc. (SOC) is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to providing employment and programming for adults with disabilities who live in Grant County and the surrounding counties of Southwest Wisconsin. It is our vision to eliminate barriers so that individuals with disabilities can have equal opportunities in their communities. Our programming environment promotes independence, personal growth, and community connections. These opportunities are currently provided through day services, employment and training services, community employment, customized employment, residential supervision, Golden Opportunities Senior Group, and social, recreational and community enrichment. As part of our Work Services program, SOC maintains a shredding business onsite. This program provides work opportunities to even our most severely disabled clients who have limited cognitive and/or physical abilities. Businesses pay us to shred their paper, while a recycling company purchases the shredded paper from us. The production work provides our clients with vocational training and employment, it also helps to keep our agency and services in operation.
