Answer: The Snow Camp Theatre is an outdoor repertory theatre company who's vision is to bring the voices of the past alive by producing engaging historical dramas that inspire and entertain audiences from around the state. We accomplish this by hiring professional artists who bring their experience and expertise and partner them with young artists in the early stages of their professional careers to help train, support and develop their craft; to use a variety of educational programs to engage the youth of our communities to broaden their understanding of culture, history and the world around them; and we endeavor to use our theatre as a vessel for bringing together all peoples to a common bond of community. Supported by the Snow Camp Historical Drama Society, Inc., with grants from the Theatre Arts Section of the North Carolina Arts Council, the North Carolina General Assembly, and the National Endowment for the Arts, we typically present several historic dramas each summer in Snow Camp, an unincorporated community in southern Alamance County, North Carolina. Our two key plays are The Sword of Peace (1973) by William Hardy and Pathway to Freedom (1995) by Mark Sumner. Both plays examine local Quaker involvement in historical events, in both the Revolutionary War and the Underground Railroad of NC. The plays are set within the local context of the Cane Creek Friends Meeting, a Quaker congregation established October 7, 1751, in what is now southern Alamance County. (Snow Camp was for a time part of Guilford County during the Revolutionary-era events of Sword of Peace). Other productions include a Musicals and children's theatre, which change annually.
