Answer: Shepherds Haven is a ministry to mentally challenged adults that comprises two complimentary programs: a residential program, and a day program. The residential program, The Shepherds Haven, is designed to provide 24-hour care to 8 adult men with special needs. The home sits on 47 acres in Fayette County and provides these men an opportunity to experience living on their own, while having help and supervision near-at-hand. The board is currently raising funds for an expansion, which will add a much-needed home for women. The second branch is The Haven. The Haven is a day-program ministry to mentally challenged adults and their families. The purpose of this program is to give mentally challenged adults a place to come during the day and work in a low-stress, friendly environment. The work consists primarily of making pottery and ceramic pieces that are later sold to help support the program participants who are able, pay $300 per month tuition. The Haven allows these special men and women to do meaningful work, to work at their own pace, and to use their creativity. The Haven also allows the men and women to serve the others in the community through activities such as monthly nursing home visits
