It was also the name given to Daniel Boone when he was captured by, and eventually adopted into a Shawnee tribe in the Ohio River Valley. As one of the greatest early American pioneers, Boone braved the unknown and explored the unsettled mountains west of Virginia, into Kentucky. We chose the name Sheltowee to serve as a reminder to us to be modern-day trailblazers in the outdoor world.
