Answer: Serenity Stables, From Combat to Calm is a 501(c)3 organization to meet the increasing needs of the Veteran Community and now serves as Monmouth Countys premier facility providing horse-assisted activities for the special needs of Veterans. We provide horse-assisted activities to Veterans with a broad spectrum of developmental and physical disabilities, mental health challenges, visual impairments and traumatic brain injury, all stemming from the sacrifice they gave to this country and injuries, seen & unseen they continue to endure. Horses are social in nature and respond to non-verbal communication. Horses are extremely sensitive, providing different opportunities for veterans to interact with and relate to our horses which in turn allows healing to take place. Serenity Stables, From Combat to Calm was created in 2015 when founder Rene Stone looked to provide horse-assisted activities to Veterans returning from deployment with a broad spectrum of physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Rene comes from a family who has served in the military & she has over 20 years experience owning horses. Rene discovered the benefits of equine therapy while recovering from her own experience with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in addition to a traumatic brain injury. Rene Stone will be partnering with Kyra A. Becker, MSW, LCSW, BCD (Assistant Director of NJ Center of Healing Arts). Kyra specializes in the unconventional approach to integrated mental health care. Certified through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) is the leading international nonprofit association for professionals incorporating horses to address mental health and personal development needs. They work side by side with veterans and horses to address individual treatment goals. If you or anyone you know would like to come and experience the healing effects of our equine facility contact us today!
