Answer: Founded in 2016, Roots has transformed from a glimmer of hope to an unwavering pillar of support for the community. Our foundational mission has been to assist homeless women and their children in rebuilding their lives, offering them safe housing, Peer Support, and life-skills programs. Over the past six years, this endeavor has grown beyond just shelter, kindling hope, fostering resilience, and equipping them for a more promising future. Our 5-acre campus, developed through passion driven determination, generous support from local entities, and the community, is a testament to our communitys desire to solve the homeless issue for women and children. Roots consists of four transitional homes, an education lab, a community meeting space, and a vibrant vegetable garden, ensuring a nurturing environment for gaining stability and eventual independent living. Roots program services offer a comprehensive support system for unhoused women. These services not only provide immediate relief in terms of shelter but also pave the way for long-term solutions to help women achieve self-sufficiency and independence. The sense of security and belonging that comes from having a safe home allows these women to shift their focus to rebuilding their lives. Peer support is an invaluable facet of the Roots program, leveraging the lived experiences of those who've faced and overcome challenges similar to those faced by the program's participants. The power of empathy and understanding in the recovery process from all of the causes of homelessness is palpable. Unhoused women, when connected with a Peer Support Specialist, find it easier to navigate their journey. Knowing that someone else has walked a similar path and successfully tackled those challenges reduces feelings of isolation and fosters an environment of mutual respect, trust, and understanding.
