Answer: The Purcellville Gazette is a weekly tabloid-style newspaper based in Purcellville, Virginia. It is fully supported by amounts paid by advertisers and is distributed without charge. In addition to Purcellville, the Gazette is an Official Paper of Record for Loudoun County, including Purcellville, Hamilton, Lovettsville, Hillsboro and Round Hill. The Purcellville Gazette was also the first local paper to publish every issue of its paper, ads included, on its website for the general public. Each week, the Gazette publishes Letters to the Editor, regardless of political stance and opinion. Staff writers are or many political stripes and affiliate with Republicans, Democrats, or no party at all. Founded in May 2004, it took only one year before the Purcellville Gazette was named one of the top three new businesses of the year by Loudoun’s Chamber of Commerce in 2005. The paper was co-founded by R. Ben Weber and Kim Pregartner-Weber. The Gazette was created to fill the need the community had and still has for a newspaper that covers local events, tells the stories of the communities, and people in western Loudoun County. Originally, the paper had a circulation of 2,000 readers, but we currently estimate the readership of the Purcellville Gazette is over 40,000 readers.
