Answer: OUR MISSION Project Leadership partners with schools and communities to increase high school and post-secondary completion rates. Project Leadership creates and accelerates local and regional educational initiatives and programs that promote educational attainment and degree/certificate completion. It strives to improve quality of life and the economic health of communities, ensuring low-income students achieve an education with value in the marketplace through college access/completion. Project Leadership services strive to help students: 1) Find their Way in the career/major path that fits best with their interests and aptitudes. 2) Learn the critical steps for how to Pay for a post-secondary education. 3) Develop a plan to Stay on their post-secondary path through successful completion. OUR STORY Project Leadership began in 2000 as a program funded by a Lilly Endowment grant designed to increase educational attainment. The college and success programming deepened significantly in 2007 when Project Leadership began partnering with the 21st Century Scholars program and area schools to increase Scholar enrollment at the middle school level. During the same year that Project Leadership began Scholar enrollment at the middle school level, it designed and launched a mentoring program to support Scholars during the high school years in which they would be working to fulfill the Scholar pledge. That program has since expanded to include post-secondary mentoring, as well as a wide range of college access and support services. Formerly housed at the Community Foundation of Grant County, Project Leadership in the Fall of 2011 received its own 501(c) (3) designation and is now an independent non-profit organization with offices in Muncie, serving Delaware County, and in Marion, serving Grant County.
