Answer: Pet Project Rescue is a no-kill, non-profit, animal rescue which places homeless animals in foster care homes until they are adopted by their forever families. As a volunteer-based rescue, 100% of adoption fees and donations go back into the program to help save more cats and dogs in need of rescue. PPR was started in November 2008 in response to the overwhelming population of street dogs struggling for survival in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Today, we partner with Isla Animals (our partner rescue in Isla Mujeres) and local residents traveling to/from the Cancun region to rescue dogs and place them in foster care and permanent homes in Minnesota. We also work heavily with local animal control and shelters with high kill rates to rescue and place dogs and cats in forever homes. Additionally, the Lukas Project is a hospice care program that places terminally ill animals from shelters into loving foster homes for the remainder of their lives. Realizing that adoption is only part of the equation, PPR also actively works to help control the homeless animal population through multiple programs related to spay and neuter services. TNR (trap/neuter/release) focuses on stray and feral cats; we also have clinics which offer S/N services to dog power breeds (i.e. Pit Bulls, Boxers, German Shephers, etc.) and cats from lower-income families in the Twin Cities metro area.
