Answer: In 1953 a group of leaders in Perry and Spencer counties recognized that telecommunications was the new frontier. If they were to stimulate economic development and apply for newly amended government loans, they had to improve the quality of life for everyone and build an infrastructure for telephone service that could take advantage of the progress made by rural electric cooperatives. In a moment of inspiration, those leaders pooled their resources and local telephone companies and created Perry-Spencer Rural Telephone Cooperative, Inc. In 1995, Perry Spencer Communications, Inc. (PSC) subsidiary was created and offered local (toll-free) Internet access to Perry, Spencer and Dubois counties. PSC, an industry leader in rural telecommunications services, is a multi-service telecommunications corporation providing communications products and services to more than 8,500 customers/members in 37 communities encompassing three counties. PSC provides an array of telecommunications products and services, including Local Telephone Service, cable TV, High-Speed Internet and Long Distance.
