PeriShip was founded on the belief that there was a void in the shipping industry: when shippers encountered an interruption in their supply chain flow, shippers and receivers of perishable food products had their issue handled the same way a shipper of books, pens, or apparel would have its issue handled, with a "one size fits all" approach. There was no understanding that a perishable package needed a different level of visibility and issue resolution capability because of the emotional expectations and value associated with it. Hence PeriShip was born, and since 2001 major changes in shipping practices took hold, following the higher standards PeriShip has been setting ever since. PeriShip's primary customers are purveyors of perishable food products, such as seafood, specialty gourmet products, meats and produce, high value products like caviar, and e-commerce companies that sell prepared meals, cheeses and other specialty items B2B and B2C. PeriShip's value-add to its customers is to provide end-to-end proactive management of a shipment, actively monitoring each shipment within the transit system, to include: flight status, weather, local traffic, and more. PeriShip's business processes are based on the proactive and quick exchange of information among supply chain stakeholders. PeriShip understands that if information is not exchanged quickly it perishes, like the shipments it manages, and because of the way the transit of a shipment is managed the expectations of the supply chain can be quickly reshaped.
