Answer: Founded in 2014, Peace in Schools offers the first for-credit high school mindfulness courses in the nation. We bring mindfulness education to young people, fostering compassion, resilience and self-awareness at a time when school violence is widespread, and many teens struggle with feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety. Peace in Schools offers a positive alternative, leading to safer schools and a more peaceful world. As well as providing a full curriculum for public schools, we also partner with social service agencies and alternative schools to serve students. Our focus is to transform education, which we further commit to through mindfulness courses, workshops and retreats for educators and youth-serving professionals. These are designed for teachers, school counselors, parents, clinicians, and anyone who regularly works with young people. These courses help adults learn to embody mindfulness, giving them the tools necessary to bring compassion and care to the classroom and workplace. At Peace in Schools, were demonstrating how mindfulness can be brought into mainstream education.
