Answer: MY GOAL : Making a better life for dogs and their people! I do this by helping to educate as many dog owners or possible dog owners as I can. I strive to better your relationships with your dog. I want to help rescue groups and to reduce the number of dogs in animal shelters. I, Eleza Kerfoot grew up without a dog, in a family that had no intentions of ever getting one. So, I found myself walking my neighbors dogs and starting a small business out of it and offering vacation care as well. At the age of about 16, I became interested in the field of training, but because of my age I was a liability to have around. Finally I found St.Francis P.E.T a service dog organization in Fair Oaks. I volunteered and learned everything they would teach me. I raised many service dogs and aided in the raising of many more. I became a trainer for their organization teaching basic obedience, pet therapy, and service dog classes. During this time I was also learning from another trainer in the Sacramento area. He allowed me to sit in on group classes, even follow him to private lessons. I finally got a dog of my own, Ritter, and began competing with him in AKC obedience trials. Picture I began volunteering my time and training for Golden State German Shepherd Rescue. I take and work with the dogs they rescue to make them more adoptable. It has been a great joy working with this rescue. To this day we have helped in saving 33 dogs by fostering and helping with transport. We also foster and train dogs for SIAR Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers. When we have the time we also organize days to recruit others to help with rescues in Auburn.
