Pathways is a nonprofit corporation licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health and accredited by the Department of Human Services. Founded in 1967 to serve clients in Black Hawk County, Pathways now offers substance abuse and mental health prevention and treatment services to people in Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw and Grundy Counties. Pathways substance abuse treatment staff provide high quality, research-based and outcome-driven programs. Treatment programs are customized to work with a wide range of clients and their family members. Certified Pathways staff members handle referrals from the Department of Juvenile Court Services, schools, employers, Department of Human Services and other agencies. Pathways offers community-based services and primary prevention to equip individuals with strategies and recovery tools to prevent problems with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Pathways views secondary prevention as a tool for early identification of high-risk behaviors, so we provide a mixture of primary and secondary prevention services. Our mental health center clinical staff includes: - Psychiatrists - Nurse practitioners - Clinical social workers - Mental health counselors Our mental health counselors provide a wide range of mental health services, including individual, family and marital counseling; school-based programming; medication management; and 24-hour emergency service.
